A FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS

Studio A Auto Detailing

Meet the team

OUR HISTORY…….Tim Padgett, owner of Studio A Louisville, first started his detailing career in the summer of 1976 at Standiford Field in Louisville, Kentucky. Detailing corporate and private aircraft.

He left Kentucky in the early 1980’s and relocated to Dallas, Texas, when he was offered the position of Chief Appearance Technician. He was contracted exclusively by Jet East, a top ten ranked FBO and home of the Dallas Cowboys corporate jet and Mitsubishi Aircraft Company. Tim was responsible for the interior and exterior appearance of all in-house jets as well as transient jet owners contracting his detailing services. Mitsubishi, manufacturers of the Diamond Jet and MU2, commissioned his exclusive services to polish all metal surfaces on each new jet. The MU2 had rubber de-ice boots, which were all treated and protected with Tim’s aviation rubber treatment. These aircraft were sold all over the world and exposed the aviation industry to the talent and exclusive product line he had created. PadJet Aviation Products have been applied on commercial, corporate, and private VIP aircraft worldwide.

IN THE LATE 80’s TIM FOUNDED PADJET AVIATION

Eventually partnering with CitiJet, Tim resigned as Chief of Aircraft Appearance and opened PadJet at CitiJet, remaining in the same hanger office he had been in for years. Some of the world’s finest corporate jets are based at CitiJet or fly into this prestigious FBO. PadJet was the exclusive company to handle all exterior and interior detailing services for these VIP clients.

American Airlines (AA) and Eastern Airlines executives soon took notice of the unprecedented Appearance Program PadJet had created and began using the Exterior Appearance Program. American Airlines had maintained the exterior of their large fleet of aircraft the same exact way for over 50 years according to engineering lab reports. AA changed their entire program and started polishing the exterior of their entire fleet with PadJet Aviation Products.

As Tim’s programs, products, and reputation grew he caught the eye of yet another very high profile client and was offered the opportunity of a lifetime, detailing The United States Presidential 747 E4B SAM FLEET.

He was the first civilian ever to be honored with this prestigious contract, detailing “Air Force One” while in fleet.

THE 90’s A NEW DECADE

In the early 90’s, USAir joined American Airlines and Eastern Airlines in implementing the PadJet Exterior Appearance Program for their entire fleet. In the same year BFGoodrich signed a worldwide exclusive deal with Mr. Padgett for his proprietary rubber treatments . Shinemaster and Shinemaster Prep, the BFGoodrich brands, were launched to the world. PadJet received another very special opportunity from King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, who bestowed upon Tim the honor of detailing the King’s personal 747 aircraft. This relationship continued for years to come.

Tim Padgett was awarded a United States patent for Preserving and Restoring Rubber De-icer Surfaces on aircraft.

In the late 90’s PadJet Aviation continued to have great success with both American Airlines and USAir. The PadJet Program has been used to protect and maintain these prestigious fleets for now over a decade!

PadJet Aviation continued selling their products worldwide. By the end of the 90’s Mr. Padgett had been approached by a number of companies including BFGoodrich to purchase his coveted rubber treatment patent. He received an offer from BFGoodrich, accepted it and sold them his patent on March 29, 1999.

THE 21ST CENTURY

PadJet divested most of it’s appearance business into focusing on Aerospace Robotic Detailing Technology. The AeroWash Project was engineered specifically for washing and polishing large commercial aircraft. AeroWash was a touch sensored, enclosed vehicle with robotic arms that could wash and polish 747 size aircraft. PadJet helped spear-head this project while continuing to sell products to AA and USAir.
